Bringing Communities Together

Rotary is an organization of business and professional leaders, who are united worldwide to provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations and help build goodwill, responsible citizenship and peace in the world.

Through Rotary Foundation, established in 1917, Rotary spends US$60 million to promote international understanding through education and humanitarian programs. About 1,000 international scholarships are awarded to 2,000 young professional and business people each year. Rotary will spend $400 million as part of Polio Plus, its program to eradicate polio worldwide by 2005. Rotary also supports 1,300 scholarships for graduate and post graduate students and provides the means for 7,000 youth exchanges each year.

A lawyer named Paul Harris founded Rotary in Chicago in 1905. Today, more than 1.2 million service-minded leaders belong to 29,000 Rotary clubs in 187 countries. Each Rotary Club meets weekly to advance the organization's service goals and enjoy fellowship.

All proceeds from Ribfests go to support the charitable activites of Rotary Clubs in local communites and around the world.
